Some adventurous Village Men are headed to the Manistee River Trail for an overnight backpacking trip.
WHAT: This is a RUSTIC/PRIMITIVE trip. All participants will need to be able to carry their provisions and gear 3 miles in and 3 miles out, over hilly terrain. There will be no running water, no electricity, and cell service is iffy at best. This is a complete disconnect where we can experience creation and talk about life through the lens of God’s Word.
WHEN: Friday and Saturday, June 16-17.
- We will leave Friday morning and carpool/caravan up to the trailhead on the Manistee River, west of Cadillac, MI, stopping for lunch on the way.
- We will be hiking in (approx. 3 miles) and setting up camp in the afternoon.
- Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and lunch will be at the campsite.
- We will pack up and hike out after lunch on Saturday, June 17; dinner we be on the road on our way home.
WHO:
- Open to any man 18+
- Any father and son
- Any teenage boy (any teen under 18 attending without a parent will have to have a signed waiver from their parent)
- Sign up by June 1! Early commitments are a huge help for planning.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Backpack, sleeping bag, tent, hammock, etc.
- Limited loaner gear will be available
- Granola bars, protein bars, freeze dried food for backpacking (widely available on Amazon; we will have cook stoves on hand for preparing these meals)
