“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Mark 12:31
At Village Bible, we believe that the heartbeat of Christian missions work is driven by the Great Commission—the proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ to all the world! We believe that the work of the Great Commission is carried out by following what Jesus says are the two greatest commandments, that is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself (See Matthew 22:34-40, Mark 12:28-34, and Luke 10:25-37).
As we are drawn into deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, his love should flow from us, shown in any number of ways, to the people around us. And, whether across the street or across the world, the point of loving people should always be the salvation of the lost soul through faith in Jesus Christ or the building up and encouragement of fellow Christians.
At Village Bible we are seeking to follow God’s Word alone and so we are seeking a biblical view of world missions. A biblical view of world missions sees the Gospel of Jesus Christ as absolutely central to the work. This means the planting and strengthening of local churches and the raising up of elders, deacons, teachers, and future missionaries to do precisely what was done among them.
